From Malaysia The form requires us to annex the full report of the study. In my case, the full report is 120 pages long. Do I have to annex the hard copy or does it suffice to submit the soft copy only?
It is preferable to annex only the hard copy (CD) of the description of your project taking care that it has no technical problem. Kindly mention in your completed application form that you are enclosing a CD.

From Malaysia I would like to know the prize for the award.
The Khwarizmi International Award for foreign researchers consists of: - A cash prize of up to US$
5000 (this amount is
subject to change)
- KIA trophy - KIA Certificate with the proper information about the recipient of the award signed by the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

submitted by air mail only or can be submitted electronically via e-mail also?
If the number of the pages of all your documents (including a duplicate of the first page of your completed application form) does not exceed 100 pages you can send your package through E-mail, mentioning the number of pages.

From Canada Does the committee require any references?
Yes, you need to send your application form dully completed with all the requested annexes which are considered as references:
Each candidature, to be considered complete, must comprise: 1 - Copy of all the publications related to your project 2 - Description of your project 3 - Abstract (maximum
150 words) 4 - Employment history 5 - List of all your publications 6 - Copy of awards / certificates if any
Besides, in case the scientific committee needs more information you will be contacted by E-mail.

From Canada What do you mean by description of the project?
The description of your project should explain the subject, the aim of your project, the process and steps it followed until its completion, the results and how far this project is a successful project.

From Egypt Is it possible for me to apply for more than one innovation or invention?
Yes, you can apply with several inventions,
but each project should be submitted with one different application form. Please mention in the corner of your first page of your project that you are applying with different projects. They will receive two different entry-codes.

From India I would like to apply postgraduate programme (Msc / Postgraduate Diploma) in the field of Agricultural Engineering water resources / Environmental engineering/costal hydraulics hydrology ,please give me more information.
We have the regret to inform you that the Khwarizmi International Award is an international award and not a grant or a scholarship. The KIA is annually presented to distinguished and outstanding researchers from all over the world who participated in this scientific contest.

From France Can I participate in the KIA even if I do not have a Passport for the moment?
Yes of course, the passport details are only pre- requested to accelerate the visa formalities in case the applicant is selected as a Laureate. You can send your application without passport details but be sure you will have your passport ready for the first week of February in case and I hope for you, your name appears among the list of the laureates.

From France Can I send all the descriptions and attached documents etc., in French ?
Sorry, as it is specified in the application form the language used by the Scientific Committee for expertise is English.

From Tanzania Who is eligible to apply?
The KIA has no special limit for eligibility. No age limit, but your research project should be completed when you apply for the KIA. (kindly refer to the KIA site).

From Bulgaria For the further development of my research project, I need some financial support. I will be very thankful to the respectable secretariat if a modest sum would be granted to our Institute. Such a grant will be utilized for research purposes only.

From India Is the application to be sent through employer where I am working, or can I send it directly?
The Khwarizmi International Award is also open to individuals. Scientists are invited to apply directly.

From Romania Please tell me if is obligatory to send a copy by air mail.
No, when you have already sent a clear and typed and completed application with clear scanned documents (if any) by E-mail (under 100 pages), you do not need to send a copy by air-mail. - Some scientists wish to send / add hard copies, CD....
Kindly tick the E-mail box on the first page.
Some applicants send the same annexes and application form first by E-mail and then by Air mail without mentioning it on the first page of the application form.
- Some applicants re-send the same package by air mail and adds little supplementary information without mentioning it on the first page of the application form… This may cause confusion in the secretariat...

From Canada I intend to apply for the Khwarizmi International Award, but I live in Canada and it will take about a month to send the application by mail. I was wondering if I could send a copy of the application form and other documents via e-mail by Oct

Of course you can send your application by E-mail IMPORTANT: in order to facilitate the print, kindly gather your documents in one or two files not more.

From Malaysia Regarding the above matter, I have one question. Can I fill out the form by hand-writing?
Hand writing is a risk, sometimes applicants send handwritten applications with E-mail addresses, description of project… impossible to read!...
To avoid misunderstandings and confusions the KIA has set this rule to prefer English type written applications.

From China Does your award refer to a future project or to the project which has already been done?
The KIA award is presented for a completed and successful project. 
From Nigeria Can a group of researchers apply for the award with a particular work they have done together?
Yes a group of researchers can apply for the Khwarizmi International Award but only a representative should be introduced to the Khwarizmi International Award. He/she will participate in the awarding ceremony in case the research work is selected. The name of the representative will be inscribed on the certificate.

From Algeria Can one apply with a work that is under consideration for an award elsewhere or a work that has already won him/her an award before?
Yes, you can apply. As a rule, applying for other awards will not prevent the applicant from applying for the Khwarizmi International Award. As it is requested, kindly enclose a copy of your previous awards/certificates (Refer to the Application Form)

From Russia I would like to ask, whether it is possible to present free translation of all publications and documents from Russian to English, or it is necessary to send officially translated both notarially certified documents and publications?
No you do not need to translate officially your documents. They only need to be in English specially title and place of publication as the expertise of your research work is made in English.

From Tunis My field of research is environmental and
marine toxicology is it eligible? Yes it is eligible.
In which format you need the documents PDF or
word? There is no preference it is up to you.
Is it necessary to send you a CD by normal mail
Actually we prefer CD Format, but if you send all your documents by E-mail. but if
your attachment is more than 50 pages a CD is
obligatory or a hard copy. the CD should be attached to ( in hard copy paper) +
the first page " entry registration" of the
completed application form .

Yes, you can submit your proposal but you may understand that submitting a published work would increase your chance.

No, there are no special requirements, the application need to be clear, well organized, and typed.

From Belarus Should all the additional documents provided with the application form - copies of education certificates, science papers, patents-be on a CD-Rom or as a hard(paper)copy?
You can send all your documents on a CD Rom. with only the first page of your application form as a hard paper copy + the title and abstract of your project.
or you can send all your documents/annexes through E-mail but kindly gather them in one or two files not more.

From Russia I have more than 50 published scientific works - articles, patents, monographs - on demanded project, but mostly they are published on Russian. Is it necessary to translate all of them in to English, or it is enough to translate only their title and resume?
It is enough to translate only their title and abstract.

From Russia According to statement, electronic version of all the documents must not exceed 50 pages, but is it OK if the paper version would contain more taking into account copies of published works?
If you wish to send all your documents through E-mail kindly save and gather them in one or two files not more. You may also send your documents compiled in one CD.

From Pakistan Is the applicant has to submit a final concept proposal as an already & recently completed project?
Yes, your project should be completed but not necessarily recent.

From France I am 67. Though I am still really involved in exciting fundamental research projects, I do not think that such an application holds for me, and is better focused on younger researchers. Please tell me your opinion.
The Khwarizmi International Award has no age limit.
